Makeroo wrote this guide, and Makeroo is one of the options in it. Last checked . Facts come from each platform's own official pages. We make no claims about traffic, ranking or approval.
How to read this
Each platform below has one of 3 route kinds.
Free submission
You submit a product through the platform's own form or publishing process at no charge.
Community participation
You post to a community and its members decide what happens. There is no listing to buy.
Paid submission only
The platform lists no free route.
You want launch-day attention and feedback
These platforms run a launch as a time-boxed event. Uneed, TinyLaunch and Peerlist tie rewards to votes or ranking. Read each platform's rules on asking for votes before you share your link.
Product Hunt
Free submission
Free route
Launching is free, and makers can submit their own product without a third-party hunter. You can launch again with each significant iteration.
Rules
You cannot ask people directly to upvote. Ask them to visit and comment instead. Company accounts are prohibited.
Paid
Its launch pricing page describes no paid launch tier. Paid promotion is separate: display ads, a homepage billboard and newsletter sponsorships. Its sponsor page states no prices.
Launch from a verified individual Peerlist profile with a project marked 100% complete. Launches go live on Monday and run for a week. On other days you can schedule a launch into an upcoming week. Only the top 5 projects of the week are awarded a backlink. Its Launchpad help pages list no launch fee. Its verification page says workplace verification is free and identity verification has a minimal fee, and it does not say which one Launchpad requires.
Rules
Only individual profiles may launch, not company profiles. Do not ask for upvotes or message people you do not know to request them. SEO agencies may not launch projects for clients.
The free option is "Join the line": Uneed assigns your launch date automatically, at least 30 days out, at the back of the line. A launch needs an upvote score of 10 to stay published with a nofollow link and 20 for the do-follow backlink. Below 10 it goes back to your dashboard and cannot join the free line again.
Rules
Uneed detects bought votes, removes them and bans repeat offenders.
Paid
Fast-track is $14.99 for a slot in about 14 days. Fast-track always stays published, and its backlink is do-follow from a score of 10. Skip the line is $39.99, lets you choose the launch date and gives a do-follow backlink with no minimum score. Relaunch is $15. Uneed Pro is $99 a year and adds a +3 vote multiplier.
The Standard launch is free. It joins a queue, stays on the homepage for multiple days, and earns a badge for a top-3 ranking.
Rules
Top-3 launches get a high-authority backlink. Its homepage says the dofollow backlink is granted when you embed its badge with a dofollow link to TinyLaunch on your landing page.
Paid
Premium Launch is $39 per launch. It skips the queue, guarantees a high-authority backlink (its pages do not say whether the badge is required) and is often shown between 3rd and 4th place in the launch competition. A Mid-Feed Spot is $15 a week and a Top Spot is $30 a week.
Show HN is a community post. DevHunt is developer-only, and its voting happens in a paid launch week. Its free listing is a permanent page.
Show HN (Hacker News)
Community participation
Free route
Submit a story whose title starts with "Show HN". It must be something people can try, ideally without barriers such as sign-ups or emails. If it is not ready to try, do not post it. Its pages describe no fee.
Rules
Sign-up pages and newsletters are not Show HNs and belong in a regular submission. Do not post landing pages or fundraisers. The project should be non-trivial, and new features or upgrades are generally not substantive enough. Do not ask friends to upvote or comment. Hacker News asks that you not use the site primarily for promotion. The project must be something you worked on personally, and you must be around to discuss it.
Listing is free and gives a permanent page with a nofollow link. Voting and winners belong to a launch week, which is a separate paid step. DevHunt accepts only tools for developers.
Rules
Tools that are not for developers, NSFW tools and services that sell fake engagement are not accepted. Votes during the launch week decide the winners.
Paid
A launch costs $19 once and adds a launch week of your choice, a newsletter spot and a dofollow link. A boosted launch is $49 and ranks above other launches on equal votes. A boosted launch can also take one of three weekly super boosts for $99.
A directory entry gives your product a page that describes it. Makeroo and AlternativeTo have a free route. BetaList is paid only.
Makeroo
Free submissionOurs
Free route
A free listing includes AI verification, a page on Makeroo and a spot in the feed. Submit with the web form or from your own agent through the MCP server. Verified listings link without nofollow, and there is no upvote gate.
Rules
Every submission needs a contact email. The listing stays pending until the maker clicks the confirm link, and unconfirmed listings expire after two days. Each confirmed listing is checked by AI before it goes live, and that check can send it to review or reject it.
Verify your email, then choose "Suggest new application". The FAQ describes no fee for a standard submission, and submissions enter a review queue. The FAQ says the normal queue holds several thousand apps and gives no review date.
Rules
Apps in closed beta, invite-only, early access or announced-only status are not accepted. Thin wrappers around someone else's model are declined. Descriptions must not contain website links. Profiles may not be used to advertise products.
Paid
A one-time fee moves an app to the front of the review queue. The price is shown before you pay, and paying does not guarantee approval.
The Official MCP Registry is a catalog that tools read. It lists MCP servers, not products in general.
Official MCP Registry
Free submission
Free route
Publish metadata for an MCP server, open source or closed source, whose install method is public or which is itself publicly accessible. It lists MCP servers, not products in general. The registry is in preview, and its docs warn that breaking changes or data resets may occur before general availability. They describe no fee.
Rules
You must verify ownership of your namespace through GitHub, DNS or an HTTP challenge. Private servers are not supported. Maintainers can remove spam and malicious servers.
We left out Fazier and MicroLaunch because their official pages did not confirm a free route when we checked. We left out Reddit and Indie Hackers because we could not retrieve their official rules. Check any community's own rules before you post.
